Caledonian Conservation Ltd was founded in 2010 by Chris Cathrine. The company provides high quality ecology and ornithology services for developments and conservation. Many ecology and ornithology surveys are highly specialist, requiring a high level of fieldcraft and experience. When you contract Caledonian Conservation Ltd you are guaranteed that the ecologists working on your project are appropriately experienced, hold the necessary licences and use the specialist equipment required.

Ecology and ornithology surveys can take surveyors to remote areas throughout the day or night, and they may be exposed to extreme weather and other hazards. Recognising this, Caledonian Conservation Ltd follows risk assessment and lone working procedures, while ensuring that any surveyor is appropriately equipped to deal with the terrain and unpredictable weather conditions that may be encountered. The safety of surveyors and the public is our first priority.
For our environmental education projects there are very different health and safety considerations. Staff working on these projects have up-to-date outdoor first aid qualifications, and those working regularly with children or vulnerable adults are members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Our projects are fully risk assessed, and we follow best practice guidance of staff participant ratios as recommended by organisations such as the Forest School Association and Forestry Commission Scotland Branching Out programme.
Caledonian Conservation Ltd holds both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance policies, providing security for our clients. Specific details of insurance can be provided on request.
