Charlotte Martin, HND, ACIEEM – Field Specialist

Charlotte has over 30 years’ experience of working in the land-based sectors, and joined Caledonian Conservation as an intern while studying at SRUC.

She has a wide range of fieldwork and survey experience, such as Phase 1, large scale NVC, PAWS, forestry pre ops coupe checks, vantage point raptor, bat, rhododendron, protected species, newts and upland BBS/VP’s along with site invertebrate monitoring which include butterfly transects.

Charlotte’s main interest, experience and specialism is with the Lepidoptera order of invertebrates, specifically moths, along with a long-term project researching native Lampyridae (involving regular moth surveys). She is also particularly interested in deer and their role/impacts within forestry and other habitats, and is experienced conducting Herbivore Impact Assessments.

She holds a current two day Outdoor First Aid certificate, an off-road driving certificate with BORDA, certificate in ATV , and a current CSCS card. Her memberships include CIEEM, The British Deer Society, British Arachnological Society and the British Ecological Society. In her spare time she volunteers with the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project as often as possible.
